X-Men Contest for the month of September:

Where would the X-Men be without their powers?

Write a story where for whatever reason, alternate universe, inhibitors, sickness, etc., one or more of the X-Men are unable to use their mutant abilities. How does this affect their relationships? Their professional lives? Their self-esteem? Their appearance? (Those questions are just suggestions, you don't actually have to mention all or any of them.)
